Star War Journal Entry #2

Jungle Fever

Upon landing on Felucia, It was decided that Miko stay behind with Captain Okee to familiarize himself with the “upgrades” she made to the Banshee. I believe this was a wise choice as he is most likely going to be piloting the ship when she is otherwise unavailable, like dragging my sorry butt by my cape. I just hope Miko can handle her “aggressive” teaching style. Also, Mer’lin told us of a dream he had, where a presence of the dark side of the force awaited us on this planet. Personally, I have never put any faith in such hokey religions. All the same though, I will be sure to keep my best blaster at my side.

The away team composed of A’rreth, Leek, Mer’lin, and myself, had a dangerous trek through the thick jungle landscape of Felucia. First, some kind of spores in the air blocked all electronic scanners and communications. Next, my armor was damaged by stumbling into the acid pools scattered across the terrain. Then, A’rreth and Leek discovered that stopping to smell the flowers on this planet could give you a face full of fire. I can’t decide which smells worse, a wet Bothan or a scorched Bothan. These hazards are easy to avoid once discovered. However, the random sink holes show no sign of their presence until they open up ready to swallow you whole. Luckily my survival training kicked in, and I was able to help navigate the team across them via grappling hook and rope. Finally, Mer’lin saved my ill armored feet from stepping on the spike attacking fungi littered on the jungle floor. It is rather strange that he managed to escape all of the natural dangers of Felucia, while the rest of us had fallen victim to most of them. I believe that he has some heightened sense of his surroundings. I am curious if it is specific to him, or is it common for his race.

We came to a swamp. Leek being at home in the water, guided us across, going from island to island. Suddenly, I saw a large plant begin to move with hostile intent toward us. I thought it was yet another natural occurring obstacle of this planet. I shot at it. They retaliated. There were several of them though-out the swamp. One attacked me from above with a crude melee weapon made from what appeared to be a large jaw bone. The strike both broke my rifle and knocked me on my back. I quickly grabbed for my sidearm and dispatched it with haste. I stood up and took aim for the next. A humanoid voice screamed, “Stop! There has been a misunderstanding.” A rather dashing man approached. He is strangely very handsome for a human. He limped on his right leg. His grey and white hair pulled back in a pony tail telling the tail of the glory his life earned on the battlefield. He introduced himself as Colonel Mandrake and a former member of the separatist movement. He then went on to explain that these creatures that we were fighting were the native Felucians and enemies to the empire. My heart sank. I just killed several primitive native Felucians, not another obstacle of this jungle planet. What a tragedy. In previous battles I relied on primitive cultures to aid me in ground combat, and now I (we) may have lost a potential ally. I hope we can regain their trust after the blood that was shed in this swamp.

Colonel Mandrake brought us to his camp to heal our wounds and rest. He told us how the empire threatens their very existence. He pulled me aside. My stomach began to flutter. Although older and injured, he carried himself with such bravado. I am shocked at my infatuation towards a non-Chiss. I was glad he did not try to flirt with me. Instead, He entrusted me with a secret. We were just two honorable soldiers that would rather burn out than fade away.

The Colonel brought us to the Felucian camp. We discovered the Felucians pets, the mighty Kybuck. Kybucks are a furry bipedal macropods large enough for a humanoid to ride on its back. I befriended one, whilst A’rreth marked his territory, angering the rest. Mer’lin and Leek met with the leader of the Felucians and discovered that something was causing a number of them to become deathly ill. Upon hearing this, I vowed to myself that I would do anything and everything in my power to stop whatever was poisoning them and rid them of Imperial threat. I do this to at least repay them for the lives that I took, and earn their trust, so they may one day join the resistance. I have learned all too well, that a native defending his home, no matter how primitive, has a stronger will than any trained soldier. This war will be fought amongst the stars, but I will wager that a rebellious native swinging a club will one day turn the tide of a major battle. Senator Organa is going to need every resource he can muster.

Just then I spotted a stormtrooper scout on a speederbike marking the location of the camp. I signaled to the crew and made chase upon the backs of the mighty Kybucks. I am calling mine Fluffy, by the way. After a long and treacherous chase, we stopped him from being able to report the location of the Felucian village. It was about time we had a win on this planet. Suddenly, a sickened jungle rancor ambushed us. A few well placed shots from my best blaster made short work of it. A’rreth figures whatever was causing the illness amongst the Felucians also got to this rancor. He believes the Imperial forces must be doing something to the ground water. My guess is that they are using this remote location to perform immoral secret experiments and just dumping the rejected samples as landfill. I took the boots of the stormtrooper scout and disposed of my acid damaged ones. I hate to wear white with my colors, but this will have to do for now.

We approached the facility. Leek distracted the two stormtrooper guards on speeder bikes as they chased him up and down a nearby river. A’rreth and Mer’lin took shots of opportunity at them. I proceeded to snipe the two guards on the ramparts of the facility. During the battle, I took a serious shot to the shoulder and fell unconscious. Either A’rreth or Mer’lin grabbed a stimpack from my tactical vest and revived me. I finished off the Imperial scum that shot me. We were victorious and I got a new military issue rifle. This was all accomplished without a premeditated plan. Our team is really starting to gel. I think it is about time for me to reveal my true form. After all, there may come a time when they need to truly save my life in the field, and I don’t want that to be the first time they learn my race or gender. As we enter the Imperial Facility, we still have a lot to accomplish: take the target into custody, stop what is poisoning the Felucians, gain honor and glory for Felucia, and get home alive. Down with the Empire!
